INSPIRATION

The gem in this Montana sapphire ring sapphire is a combination of green and blue creating a perfect teal. Deposits of sapphire in Montana have been mined off and on for years. What geologic process prompted them into existence is still a bit of a mystery. This mystery, combined with the nostalgia of the mining history of the area and the romance of big sky country, has placed these beautiful sapphires in very high demand these days.

Montana sapphires are most commonly available in yellow, green, blue or some combination thereof. Sometimes you will see a stone with clear colour zoning. This is when there is a saturation of one colour in one section of the gem and a saturation of another colour in another section of the gem.

For the coffee lover! We, of course, count ourselves among them. The history of this coffee bean pendant goes back to one of our owners days at George Brown College. She had decided to create a production line of coffee bean jewellery. Because there are no short cuts in school she had to carve her coffee beans from scratch out of wax rather than simply casting a real coffee bean. This coffee bean line has proved an enduring favourite with our clients!

INSPIRATION

When one of our owners was little, her grandmother’s garden was full of roses. She loved them so much and didn’t appreciate at the time all the work that had gone into making that garden so beautiful. Ever since she’s had a profound affinity for roses.

She wanted to recapture those feelings in a ring. The rose garden ring is made of green gold and set with a dusty rose coloured natural sapphire.

If you’re not familiar with green gold it’s an alloy of gold and silver. Whereas typical yellow gold uses alloys of both copper and silver, green gold uses only silver. In contrast rose gold is created by using only the copper as an alloy.

INSPIRATION

When you get home from work. When you had a tough day. When company comes over. When you need a pick me up. Put the kettle on. This pendant is made to order, please allow 3-6 weeks for delivery.

In this pendant we’ve used a “tea” coloured sapphire and set it within a white gold tea cup decorated with scrollwork. While we readily admit that we don’t usually have our tea in a china cups, we thought we’d elevate it to its most iconic form. In short, this pendant is a tribute to our long and happy relationship with tea. I suppose it symbolizes comfort to us.

INSPIRATION

We were inspired by the tradition of acrostic jewellery to create our hope necklace. During the Victorian era the first letter of a gemstone were used to spell out a word in jewellery. The most classic example of this type of acrostic jewellery was the “REGARD” ring in which the first letter of each gemstone spelled out the word regard.

In our necklace the first letter of each gemstone, Heliodor, Opal, Peridot and Emerald spell out the word HOPE. If you’re unfamiliar with heliodor  it is the yellow variety of beryl which is the same mineral as emerald and aquamarine.

Who couldn’t use a little hope these days?! This pendant is meant to serve as a talisman to those who believe in happy endings, that good will always triumph over evil and who will never stop trying to make the world a better place.
